Get to Know Me
I’m Nicole Best, a registered Clinical Psychologist & Hypnotherapist based in Carindale Brisbane. I am nationally registered as a Psychologist with Clinical Endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), APS Clinical College, Australian Hypnosis Society and Australian Pain Society. I have gained broad ranging experience spanning 25+years from working primarily in private practice but also public hospital pain management units and non-government, not for profit organizations such as Lifeline. I also have current and past NDIS participants as clientele.
I believe in creating a genuine, safe and authentic therapeutic environment. I am considered and caring during my work with clients. Through collaboration with them I aim to develop specific strategies to address their needs. Interventions are drawn from a variety of theories, models and approaches. I have trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, systems and family therapy, and extended myself further developing skills and a keen interest in the use of mindfulness and hypnosis. I work with adults, young adults, adolescents and children to assist them to achieve their optimum wellbeing through a holistic “healthy mind - healthy body - healthy environment” approach.

I provide specialised Clinical Psychology services under Medicare. I do not work with legal matters although from time to time have found myself supporting clients through court processes. I no longer conduct formal psychometric testing and assessments, but I may use some scales and questionnaires to assist with and guide therapeutic assessment, interventions and outcomes.
I am able to work with and form both professional and therapeutic relationships with a wide range of clientele having worked across government, non-government and private practice environments.
I completed my Masters of Clinical Psychology in 2004 at the University of South Australia, Adelaide; and previously a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and Organisational Psychology in 1996 at Griffith University, Brisbane, Queensland. I participate in ongoing professional development and peer supervision, and can provide on request, supervision to colleagues for clinical endorsement, provisional psychologists and other health professionals. I complete additional training yearly to fulfill clinical registration requirements. In 2011 I added a Diploma of Clinical Hypnosis to my qualifications followed by the Supervisor Training Accredited Program in 2012.
In 2014 I returned with my husband and young son to live in Brisbane after spending the prior 17 years living, studying and working in Adelaide. My work environments included working within the Pain Management Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and privately at Rose Park Psychology and Bower Place Psychology Private Practices in Adelaide. From 2015 to 2021 I practiced out of Evolve Mindfulness Clinic, Carina, Brisbane before setting up my own suburban practice space in Carindale.

I truly care about my patients’ well-being and seek to provide professional counselling and psychological services that meets the needs of my clientele through constructive therapy sessions.
